Innisfail is the major producer of bananas and paw paws in Australia, and is the base for international backpackers looking for work in Queensland. The produce is picked and packed locally, then sent weekly to southern markets.                                                                                         Workers are required 12 months of the year and experience is not necessary as training is provided.                                                                             We are not an employment agency, however, we assist you to find work and arrange transport at no cost to you.                                                        Payment, conditions and hours of work varies from farm to farm, but you can expect a guaranteed minimum award wage which is payable on an hourly basis.                                                                                                  Work Visa, Tax File Number and Australian Bank Account are required.     Whilst banana work is obtainable all year around, the following work maybe available on a more casual basis.

Work can also often be found in any trade,
such as
carpenter, plumber, electrician, chef, painter, etc.
Other farms that may have work grow :
rambutan, mangostene, passion fruit, pineapple, lychee, avocado, mango, ginger, coconut, granadilla, lime and many other rare tropical fruits.


Things to think about 

  • Current working holiday visa is essential.

  • Employers have to spend time training you, so they prefer you to stay at least 4 weeks.

  • You will be working in hot, wet, and sometime difficult tropical conditions.

  • The days can be long - 8 to 10 hours, with short breaks and early starts.
